After ending their trophy drought with an IPL victory in 2025, Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Virat Kohli set the goal of winning again, this time at home in the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. However, complications arose as the stadium was put on hold as an international venue due to a fatal stampede during celebrations. IPL matches at the ground were uncertain, pending clearance from an Expert Committee. Despite this, RCB’s schedule for IPL 2026 includes matches against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals, and Mumbai Indians. They are also expected to split home venues between Bengaluru and Raipur’s Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Stadium. The defending champions will kick off the season on March 28 against Sunrisers Hyderabad, followed by a match against Chennai Super Kings in the Great Southern Derby. With uncertainties surrounding their home ground, RCB faces challenges as they aim to defend their title in the upcoming season.
