Rajasthan Royals’ batting coach Vikram Rathour expressed his confidence in the exceptional talent of 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, describing him as a “very special player” who continues to live up to the hype surrounding him. Suryavanshi, who had a successful IPL season last year and impressed at the Under-19 World Cup, showcased his skills by scoring a quickfire 52 off 17 balls in RR’s chase against Chennai Super Kings.
Rathour emphasized that Suryavanshi’s progress is a result of both his talent and temperament. He believes that the current season is crucial for Suryavanshi’s development, but he commended the youngster for maintaining the right mindset and working hard to improve his game.
Despite the attention on Suryavanshi, Rathour highlighted the batter’s calm and relaxed demeanor, stating that he enjoys playing cricket and hitting sixes without feeling pressured. He believes in keeping things simple and having open conversations with Suryavanshi to help him thrive in the IPL.
On the other hand, Gujarat Titans’ assistant coach Ashish Kapoor expressed confidence in Jos Buttler’s ability to bounce back from a lean patch, calling him a “top player” who is on the right path. Kapoor also praised debutant pacer Ashok Sharma for his fearlessness on the field, noting his eagerness to take on challenges despite facing setbacks.
Overall, both teams are focused on maintaining the right balance and making minor tweaks to their playing XI if needed. The coaches are optimistic about their players’ abilities and are looking forward to a successful season.
