Lucknow Super Giants seemed almost out of the game, needing 64 runs from the final five overs. Kolkata Knight Riders appeared to be in control after Anukul Roy dismissed Mukul Choudhary, leaving the hosts at 93 for five. However, Ayush Badoni’s aggressive batting, including a four and a six, kept Lucknow in the game until he was dismissed by Varun Chakaravarthy.
The match continued to sway back and forth as George Linde hit boundaries off Varun, reducing the target to 28 off 12. Despite Vaibhav Arora removing Linde, Mohammed Shami and Himmat Singh managed to bring the equation down to 17 runs needed off the final over.
Ajinkya Rahane entrusted Kartik Tyagi to bowl the last over. However, Tyagi’s two consecutive waist-high no-balls caused chaos and confusion on the field. Despite the controversy, Tyagi was allowed to continue bowling due to the IPL 2026 Playing Conditions, which differentiate between “unfair” and “dangerous” deliveries.
Himmat Singh hit a boundary off the Free Hit, but Tyagi responded with a wicket on the next ball. Mohammed Shami then smashed a six off the final ball to force a Super Over. KKR eventually won the game in the Super Over, with Sunil Narine’s heroics securing the victory.
