Two individuals, Manjunath (37) and Abdul Kalam (19), are facing charges for allegedly tampering with the CCTV system at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru during the RCB vs GT IPL 2026 match on April 24. The accused entered the stadium without proper authorization, using a deactivated access card, and disrupted the surveillance infrastructure. Aditya Bhat of Staqu Technologies Pvt Ltd, which provides AI-driven surveillance support during matches, filed the complaint. Over 240 cameras went offline on the day of the match due to the sabotage.
The accused, associated with subcontractor IVS Digital Solutions, damaged Network Video Recorder (NVR) systems and optical fibre connections, impacting security zones like entry gates and perimeter areas. They entered the CCTV room without authorization and damaged fibre connections in the parking area. This affected the availability of surveillance feeds for police personnel overseeing match security.
The incident occurred around 11:30 am on April 24 and was quickly rectified within an hour. Initial investigations suggest that the accused may have had a personal grudge against the company, possibly related to pending payments. Both individuals have been identified, and further action will be taken. Despite the disruption, all CCTV operations were restored promptly, and the match proceedings were not affected. The incident was reported on April 27, 2026.
