Two individuals were arrested for allegedly running an online betting operation during Indian Premier League (IPL) matches, with digital transactions totaling over Rs 8 crore found on their mobile phones, as per police reports on Thursday.

Acting on a tip-off, authorities from Sipri Bazar police station conducted a raid at a residence in Mahendrapuri Colony and apprehended Anshuman (40) and Abhishek Pathak (31), according to SP City Preeti Singh.

The suspects were reportedly managing the betting scheme from the location, accepting bets on various aspects of IPL matches such as wickets, runs, and overs, police stated. Upon searching the premises, four mobile phones were discovered with online transactions involving digital coins amounting to over Rs 8.05 crore, along with cash exceeding Rs 5,000.

Furthermore, officials have frozen approximately Rs 1.80 lakh from nine bank accounts associated with the accused individuals, Singh mentioned. Upon interrogation, Anshuman and Abhishek disclosed their partnership with Ravi Kushwaha, a resident of Pathoriya believed to be the primary suspect, who is currently on the run.

A case has been filed under pertinent legal provisions, and authorities are actively pursuing Kushwaha’s whereabouts, according to the police. The incident was published on April 30, 2026.
