During the IPL 2026 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Mumbai Indians, Tim David, a batter for RCB, caused a stir when he visibly annoyed the on-field umpires. This incident occurred during the first innings of the match, which RCB went on to win by 18 runs, placing them in third on the points table. The moment in question happened in the 18th over of RCB’s innings when David hit a massive six off Mumbai’s captain, Hardik Pandya. The power of the shot led to the ball needing to be replaced, and as a new box of balls was brought out, David began inspecting one, much to the umpires’ discomfort. He eventually returned the ball after a brief exchange, including a light-hearted moment with Rohit Sharma. Aakash Chopra, commenting on the incident, mentioned that as a batter, David shouldn’t have been checking the ball. RCB’s victory came on the heels of a loss to the Rajasthan Royals, with standout performances from Virat Kohli, Phil Salt, and Rajat Patidar. Mumbai’s efforts, led by Sherfane Rutherford’s late innings, fell short as they were restricted to 222 for five. RCB now stands third in the standings with six points, while Mumbai lags in eighth place with just one win. Their next match will be against the Lucknow Super Giants on April 15 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
