Ryan ten Doeschate, the assistant coach for the Indian cricket team, has been appointed as the new head of cricket strategy at the Knight Riders franchise. In this role, he will be responsible for overseeing cricket strategy, talent acquisition, and development across all of the Knight Riders’ global franchises.
Working closely with coaching teams, Ryan will help establish a consistent cricketing philosophy and approach throughout the Knight Riders organization. Additionally, he will also serve as the assistant coach for various Knight Riders teams such as the Trinbago Knight Riders in the CPL, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the ILT20, and Los Angeles Knight Riders in the MLC.
Venky Mysore, CEO of Knight Riders Sports, expressed his excitement about Ryan joining the team, citing his deep understanding of the franchise’s philosophy and his experience in both franchise and international cricket. Mysore believes that Ryan is the perfect fit to help drive the next phase of growth for the Knight Riders.
Ryan himself is thrilled to be back with the Knight Riders in this new capacity, seeing it as an opportunity to work with coaching and analytics teams to enhance scouting and player development systems and to develop a long-term cricket strategy.
Ryan’s association with the Kolkata Knight Riders dates back to 2011 when he was a player for the team. He was part of the title-winning squads in IPL 2012 and 2014 before transitioning into a coaching role in 2022, ultimately contributing to the team’s third IPL championship title in 2024.
The announcement of Ryan’s new role was made on July 29, 2026, showcasing the Knight Riders’ commitment to further strengthening their cricketing operations under his leadership.
