The upcoming IPL season in 2026 is approaching, but several overseas players are still missing from their respective squads for various reasons. Australian fast bowlers Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc will not be available at the start of the season due to injuries, with no confirmed return date. SRH captain Pat Cummins, who arrived in India on March 25, will also miss the first half of the season as he recovers from a back injury. LSG’s Josh Inglis will only join the tournament in the second half due to personal reasons.
Several Sri Lankan players, including Matheesha Pathirana, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Nuwan Thushara, are awaiting the no-objection certificate from the Sri Lankan Cricket Board to participate in the IPL. In addition, players like Nathan Ellis, Sam Curran, and Ben Duckett have been ruled out of the entire tournament due to injuries or other commitments.
The overseas contingent for each IPL team includes a mix of international talent. Chennai Super Kings have players like Dewald Brevis and Matt Henry, while Delhi Capitals boast Mitchell Starc and David Miller. Lucknow Super Giants have Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram, while Rajasthan Royals feature Jofra Archer and Shimron Hetmyer. Sunrisers Hyderabad will have Pat Cummins only in the second half of the season, along with other international players like Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen.
