Tanmay Srivastava, a member of the 2008 U19 World Cup-winning team led by Virat Kohli, is making history by becoming the first player to transition from playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) to becoming an umpire in the league. The Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has confirmed that Tanmay will be officiating in the upcoming IPL 2025, as he is affiliated with the UPCA.

Tanmay’s cricket career saw him represent Punjab Kings (formerly Kings XI Punjab), Deccan Chargers (later Sunrisers Hyderabad), and Kochi Tuskers Kerala in the IPL. Despite limited opportunities in the league, Tanmay made a significant impact during India’s U19 World Cup triumph in 2008, emerging as the highest run-scorer with 262 runs in the tournament, including a crucial 46-run innings in the final.

In domestic cricket, Tanmay made a total of 90 first-class, 44 List A, and 34 T20 appearances for Uttar Pradesh, accumulating over 7,000 runs in all formats. After retiring from professional cricket in 2020, Tanmay transitioned to umpiring and has officiated in various domestic competitions such as the Vijay Hazare Trophy and the Ranji Trophy.

His journey from player to umpire in the IPL marks a significant milestone in his cricketing career, showcasing his versatility and passion for the sport.
