Royal Challengers Bangalore’s hopes of securing a top-two spot in the Indian Premier League 2025 took a hit after suffering a 42-run defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad. The loss not only knocked RCB down to third place in the standings but also significantly affected their Net Run Rate.
Sunrisers, on the other hand, secured their fifth win of the season but remained in eighth place with 11 points from 13 matches. The IPL 2025 Points Table showed Gujarat Titans leading the table with 18 points, followed by Punjab Kings in second place with 17 points. RCB, despite their recent loss, still managed to hold onto the third spot with the same number of points as Punjab Kings but with a lower Net Run Rate.
Mumbai Indians rounded up the top four with 16 points, while Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Sunrisers Hyderabad occupied the middle positions. Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings found themselves at the bottom of the table.
The points table is constantly being updated to reflect the latest results, with RCB’s recent defeat to SRH on May 23 causing a shuffle in the rankings. With only a few matches left in the league stage, the competition for the playoffs spots is getting intense, making every game crucial for the teams in contention.
