Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins has been fined for a slow over rate during an IPL match against Gujarat Titans. The match took place in Ahmedabad and Cummins was penalized Rs. 12 lakh for the offense. This was the first offense of the season for Cummins under Article 2.22 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which deals with minimum over-rate offenses. The IPL issued a statement confirming the fine.
Sunrisers Hyderabad suffered a heavy defeat against Gujarat Titans, losing by 82 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium. In pursuit of GT’s total of 168 for five, SRH was bowled out for just 86 runs in 14.5 overs.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night, and the IPL released the statement regarding Cummins’ fine on May 13, 2026. Cummins will need to pay the fine as a consequence of his team’s slow over rate during the match.
The slow over rate may have contributed to Sunrisers Hyderabad’s loss, as they were unable to contain Gujarat Titans’ batting lineup. It serves as a reminder to teams to maintain the required over rate during IPL matches to avoid penalties and fines.
