Australia and Sunrisers Hyderabad all-rounder Jack Edwards will miss the Indian Premier League 2026 season due to a foot injury. The 31-year-old was signed by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs. 3 crore in the auction in December, beating out Chennai Super Kings in a bidding war. This season would have been Edwards’ debut in the IPL.
Edwards recently made his international debut for Australia during their tour of Pakistan in January. He had a successful season with the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League, taking 19 wickets in 13 matches and scoring 133 runs. He also performed well for Washington Freedom in Major League Cricket, taking 14 wickets and scoring 152 runs in 12 appearances.
The absence of Edwards adds to Sunrisers Hyderabad’s overseas player woes, as captain Pat Cummins is also set to miss the start of the season and there are concerns about the fitness of fast bowler Eshan Malinga. Sunrisers Hyderabad has not yet announced a replacement for Edwards.
