Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have secured a replacement signing for IPL 2026 with the addition of South African speedster Gerald Coetzee for Rs 2 Crore. The 25-year-old joins the Orange Army as an injury replacement for left-arm seamer David Payne, who is out for the season due to an ankle injury. Coetzee, who was surprisingly unsold in the auction, brings valuable IPL experience to Hyderabad, having previously played for Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans, with a track record of 15 wickets in 14 matches.
With SRH currently in a mid-table battle, the addition of Coetzee aims to bolster their death-bowling. Meanwhile, regular skipper Pat Cummins has also returned to the squad, expected to lead in the upcoming clash against Rajasthan Royals. His presence will stabilize the bowling hierarchy and provide a different dimension to the SRH attack.
As Coetzee settles in and Cummins gears up for his return, SRH faces a tough challenge against a resurgent Chennai Super Kings. Both teams have 4 points from 5 matches, setting the stage for an exciting showdown.
