Mumbai Indians all-rounder Shardul Thakur clarified that Hardik Pandya’s absence in the last three matches was due to injury and not due to any speculation over his future with the franchise. Thakur mentioned that Hardik could make a comeback for the next game against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Hardik missed the game against Punjab Kings in Dharamsala due to a back spasm, making it his third consecutive match on the sidelines. Thakur confirmed that Hardik is currently training in Mumbai and is expected to be back in action against KKR on May 20 at Eden Gardens.

Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants have already been eliminated from playoffs contention this season. Hardik has had a disappointing campaign, both as a player and captain, scoring 146 runs in eight innings at an average of 20.85 and taking only four wickets with the ball.

There have been rumors on social media linking Hardik with possible moves to franchises like Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals. However, Thakur dismissed these speculations, emphasizing that the decision for Hardik not to travel to Dharamsala was a management decision.

The season has been underwhelming for Hardik, but Thakur highlighted the importance of having a player of his quality in the team. The Mumbai Indians will be looking to finish the season on a high note, with Hardik’s potential return against KKR providing a boost to the struggling team.
