The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) kicked off with a dazzling display of lights and sound at the Eden Gardens. Despite morning rains, fans flocked to the stadium well before the opening match began. The presence of superstar Shah Rukh Khan, dressed in smart black attire, thrilled the spectators as he waved and addressed the crowd, calling the IPL “the greatest cricketing event in the world.”
The entertainment continued with performances by singers Shreya Ghoshal and Karan Aujla, as well as dance routines by actress Disha Patani. The fusion of lights and fireworks added to the excitement before the opening match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Shah Rukh Khan took the stage with Virat Kohli and Rinku Singh, engaging them in a lively conversation and even dancing with them. Kohli, a veteran of all 18 IPL editions, was honored with a memento during the event.
The evening concluded with the display of the IPL trophy and the cutting of a specially designed cake to mark the 18th edition of the league. Captains Ajinkya Rahane and Rajat Patidar, along with top BCCI officials, were present for the glamorous prelude to the tournament.
