Sanju Samson joined the elite club of players who have scored 5000 runs in the Indian Premier League during a match between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on April 26. The 31-year-old achieved this milestone in his 185th IPL match while playing for three different franchises – Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Daredevils, and Chennai Super Kings. He also has five centuries to his name and has previously captained the Rajasthan Royals team.
During the match, Samson reached the 5000-run mark with a six against Kagiso Rabada in the second over, but was later dismissed by Rabada after scoring just 11 runs from 15 balls. This makes Samson the 10th player in IPL history to achieve this feat.
The list of players who have scored 5000 runs in the IPL includes Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, David Warner, KL Rahul, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni, Ajinkya Rahane, and AB de Villiers. Sanju Samson now joins this prestigious list with his 5008 runs in the IPL.
This significant achievement by Samson adds to his reputation as a prolific batsman in the T20 format. The milestone was reached on April 26, 2026, marking a memorable moment in his IPL career.
