This was his second century of the season, with his first being an unbeaten 115 against Delhi Capitals. Despite facing criticism for inconsistency, Samson silenced his critics with his aggressive batting at the Wankhede Stadium, hitting 10 fours and six sixes at a strike rate of 184.04.

His ability to score against both pace and spin bowling was evident in the match, where he scored 83 off 40 balls against pacers and 18 off 14 deliveries against spinners. This season marks the first time in his career that Samson has scored two centuries in a single IPL season.
