Sanju Samson’s debut for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL did not go as planned as the Kerala batsman was dismissed for just six runs. Despite his recent success in the T20 World Cup, where he was named Player of the Tournament after scoring three consecutive fifties, Samson failed to carry that form into the IPL match against the Rajasthan Royals.
After getting off the mark with an outside-edge boundary, Samson was out in the next over to an inswinging delivery from Nandre Burger that shattered his stumps. Disappointed with his early dismissal, Samson will be looking to bounce back in the upcoming game against the Punjab Kings at the MA Chidambaram stadium on April 3.
It was unusual to see Samson getting out cheaply in the first game of an IPL season, as he had scored a half-century in the opening game of every IPL season since 2020. Fans will be hoping that this early setback will only motivate Samson to perform better in the rest of the tournament.
