Rajasthan Royals may face a setback as all-rounder Sam Curran could miss the entire IPL 2026 season due to a suspected groin injury. The 27-year-old, who was traded to Royals from Chennai Super Kings, has been a key player in the IPL since 2019, previously playing for Punjab Kings as well. Curran, a T20 World Cup winner in 2022, has 997 runs and 59 wickets in six IPL seasons across the two franchises.
According to a report from ESPNCricinfo, Curran’s injury could rule him out of the upcoming IPL season, leaving a void in the Royals’ lineup. The Englishman recently participated in the 2026 T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka, where England reached the semifinals.
This injury comes as a blow to the Royals, who were counting on Curran’s all-round abilities to strengthen their squad for the IPL 2026 campaign. With his experience and success in previous IPL seasons, Curran’s absence will be felt by the team.
Curran’s partnership with Ravindra Jadeja, another key player for the Royals, was expected to be a crucial element of their strategy for the upcoming season. However, with Curran potentially sidelined due to injury, the team will need to reassess their plans and find a suitable replacement to fill the void left by the talented all-rounder.
