Former India selector Saba Karim has advised Rishabh Pant to develop a template for white-ball cricket following Pant’s disappointing three-ball duck in a recent IPL match. Pant’s struggles continued as Lucknow Super Giants suffered a 40-run loss to Rajasthan Royals, marking their fourth consecutive defeat in the tournament. With just two wins in seven matches, LSG currently sits at the bottom of the standings.
Pant’s form has been dismal this season, with only 147 runs in seven matches at an average of 24.50 and a strike rate of 132.43. He ranks fifth in his team’s run-scoring charts and 33rd in the Orange Cap standings, highlighting his poor performance.
Karim emphasized the importance of Pant finding his own approach to white-ball cricket similar to players like Shreyas Iyer and Rajat Patidar. Despite Pant’s success in Test cricket, he has struggled to establish himself in limited-overs formats. Additionally, Pant faces competition for his spot in the Indian white-ball teams from players like KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, and Sanju Samson.
In previous seasons, Pant has faced challenges in IPL, managing 269 runs in 2025 and enduring a tough run this year. His performances in T20Is and ODIs also reflect a lack of consistency, with only a few notable contributions in both formats.
