Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during their match against Delhi Capitals in the ongoing IPL 2026 season. This marked the team’s first offence under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, resulting in a fine of INR 12 lakh for Gaikwad. This season has seen multiple instances of over-rate violations, with Shreyas Iyer being found guilty on two occasions and fined a total of INR 24 lakh. Additionally, Shubman Gill, captain of Gujarat Titans, was also penalized for a similar offence. In another incident, Delhi Capitals batter Nitish Rana was fined and handed a demerit point for clashing with the umpire during a match against CSK. Despite these controversies, Chennai Super Kings secured their first win of the season by defeating Delhi Capitals with a remarkable performance by Sanju Samson, who scored a brilliant 115 not out. This victory marked a turnaround for CSK, while Delhi Capitals suffered their second consecutive defeat.
