Ravi Bishnoi, the leg-spinner for Rajasthan Royals, has transformed a weakness into a strength after his outstanding performance in the recent Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Gujarat Titans. Despite a challenging season last year, where he only managed nine wickets in 11 games, Bishnoi was released by Lucknow Super Giants. Determined to improve, the 25-year-old worked hard on fixing his length and it paid off as he took 4-41 to help Rajasthan secure a six-wicket victory.

Reflecting on his struggles, Bishnoi admitted, “Last season was difficult. I had one weakness, if my length was wrong, then I was getting hit for fours and sixes.” However, after focusing on perfecting his lengths during domestic matches, Bishnoi’s improved technique was evident in his impressive display against Gujarat. He deceived key batsmen with his googlies and crucially dismissed Rahul Tewatia late in the chase.

The tense match saw Gujarat threatening to chase down a target of 211 runs, needing 15 runs from the last two overs with three wickets in hand. However, excellent bowling from Jofra Archer and Tushar Deshpande restricted Gujarat’s scoring, securing the win for Rajasthan.

With this victory, Rajasthan now sits at the top of the IPL leaderboard alongside Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings, all with four points from two matches. Bishnoi’s redemption story serves as a testament to his hard work and determination in overcoming challenges to emerge stronger on the field.
