Rajasthan Royals’ decision to play their second home matches at Guwahati’s Barsapara Stadium in the Indian Premier League has not yielded positive results, as they suffered an eight-wicket loss to Kolkata Knight Riders in their recent match. Despite having just one win in five games at the venue, against Delhi Capitals in April 2023, Rajasthan continues to choose Guwahati as their alternate home ground.

Former New Zealand cricketer Simon Doull criticized Rajasthan’s decision, questioning the need to seek home advantage outside their regular venue in Jaipur. He emphasized the importance of maximizing home ground advantage, citing top teams like Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians who never opt to move away from their home stadiums.

Doull also highlighted the challenge of selecting a team that performs well at both venues, adding extra pressure on Rajasthan’s management. Rajasthan will face Chennai Super Kings in their next match at Guwahati and will play their first home game in Jaipur against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Overall, the decision to move away from their established home ground in Jaipur has raised doubts about the team’s strategy and ability to perform consistently in different venues.
