Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) secured a thrilling two-run victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in a high-scoring game in the Indian Premier League 2025. Chasing a target of 214, CSK looked in control for most of their innings, with Ayush Mhatre and Ravindra Jadeja forming a crucial partnership of 114 runs for the third wicket. However, quick wickets in the final overs brought RCB back into the game.

Despite the efforts of Jadeja and Mhatre, CSK fell short of the target as they required 15 runs off the last over. Yash Dayal, the hero of the match for RCB, dismissed MS Dhoni and survived a scare when a six off a no-ball from Shivam Dube almost turned the game in CSK’s favor.

In their innings, RCB got off to a strong start with Jacob Bethell and Virat Kohli putting on a blazing opening stand. Kohli’s fifty and Bethell’s maiden IPL fifty provided a solid foundation for RCB. However, CSK’s bowlers, particularly Noor Ahmad and Matheesha Pathirana, made a strong comeback to restrict RCB to 159 for five after 18 overs.

It was Romario Shepherd who turned the game in RCB’s favor with a stunning 14-ball unbeaten 53, including some powerful hitting in the death overs. Shepherd’s brutal power hitting ultimately helped RCB post a competitive total that proved to be enough for them to secure the victory.

Overall, it was a thrilling encounter that showcased the competitive nature of the IPL and the ability of teams to fight back from difficult situations. RCB’s victory keeps their hopes alive for a place in the playoffs of the tournament.
