Rajasthan Royals’ captain Riyan Parag has been fined 25% of his match fees and received one demerit point for breaching the Code of Conduct during an IPL match against Punjab Kings in New Chandigarh. The incident occurred as the Royals chased down a target of 223 to hand PBKS their first defeat of the IPL 2026 season. Riyan was found to have breached Article 2.21 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which pertains to conduct that brings the game into disrepute.
Upon admitting to the offense, Riyan accepted the sanction imposed by Match Referee Amit Sharma. An IPL media advisory stated that the BCCI is exploring further options to initiate proceedings for stringent action against the team, its officials, and players involved to uphold the reputation of the IPL.
The Royals are set to face Delhi Capitals in their next match in Jaipur on Friday. The incident took place on April 30, 2026.
