Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag is in hot water after being caught vaping in the dressing room during his team’s recent IPL match against Punjab Kings. The 24-year-old was seen using an e-cigarette, which is prohibited in India under a law implemented in 2019.
The images of Parag vaping during the match quickly spread on social media, leading to speculation about potential disciplinary action from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). E-cigarettes are banned in India, and violations can result in hefty fines and even jail time.
Despite the controversy, Parag had a decent performance on the field, scoring 29 runs as Rajasthan secured a win over Punjab, who were previously undefeated in the season. However, his overall batting performance this season has been lackluster.
The BCCI may choose to fine Parag for breaking IPL rules and for setting a negative example for other players. This incident comes on the heels of Rajasthan’s team manager being fined for using a mobile phone in the dugout during a match.
The BCCI is expected to take action against Parag, and the incident has raised questions about player conduct and adherence to regulations within the IPL. Published on Apr 29, 2026.
