Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have announced Rinku Singh as the vice-captain for the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. The decision was made by KKR CEO Venky Mysore during the Knights Unplugged 3.0 event in Kolkata, where the team introduced its players and support staff.

The team showcased its latest recruit, left-arm seamer Saurabh Dubey, along with players like Cameron Green and Blessing Muzarabani. Captain Ajinkya Rahane and vice-captain Rinku were also presented at the event. With injuries affecting key pacers, KKR is expected to rely on its batting strength this season, with Rinku playing a crucial role as a finisher.

Head coach Nayar praised Rinku’s evolution as a player and leader, expressing confidence in his ability to handle more responsibility. Rinku, who was part of India’s T20 World Cup-winning squad, has been with KKR since 2018 and has scored 1,099 runs in 59 matches for the team.

After a disappointing eighth-place finish last year, the three-time champion is set to kick off the season against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. The team is looking to bounce back and make a strong impression in the upcoming season.

The announcement of Rinku as vice-captain adds a new dimension to KKR’s leadership structure, and fans are eager to see how he performs in his new role. The season promises to be an exciting one for the team and its supporters as they aim for success in the IPL.
