Former cricketers Manoj Tiwary and Rohan Gavaskar have joined Wasim Jaffer in calling for Lucknow Super Giants to remove Rishabh Pant as captain in order to allow him to focus on his batting. Pant, who joined the franchise in 2025, has struggled as captain, scoring only 204 runs in nine matches this season at a strike rate of 128.30. Tiwary and Gavaskar believe that the burden of captaincy has affected Pant’s performance with the bat and that relieving him of the captaincy responsibilities will allow him to play more freely. They suggest that South Africa T20I captain Aiden Markram could be a suitable replacement for Pant as captain, citing his successful leadership in the SA20 league. Jaffer had previously recommended Markram as a better captain option for the team. The consensus among the former cricketers is that removing Pant as captain would be beneficial for both him and the team.
