The official broadcaster of the Indian Premier League announced that the recently-concluded season saw a viewership of 1.2 billion, marking a seven per cent increase from the previous year. The final match saw Royal Challengers Bengaluru emerge victorious against Gujarat Titans, securing their second consecutive IPL title.

A press release from JioStar stated that the 2026 IPL season captured the attention of viewers, with a total watch-time of 870 billion minutes. The final match, which saw RCB lifting the trophy for the second year in a row, became the most-watched IPL game ever, reaching over 400 million viewers across various platforms.

The digital growth of the season was also highlighted, with a 22 per cent increase in Connected TV viewership and a total of 25 billion digital video views, representing an eight per cent year-on-year growth. Additionally, there was a significant increase of 33 per cent in regional language watch-time share on digital platforms.

Ishan Chatterjee, CEO of JioStar Sports, expressed his satisfaction with the season-ending data, attributing the success to the strategic efforts made across different platforms. The communal experience of Connected TV and the focus on regional language presentations were identified as key drivers of the unprecedented growth.

The 2026 IPL season was a resounding success, attracting a record number of viewers and showcasing the growing popularity of the league both on traditional television and digital platforms.
