Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) head coach Andy Flower was fined 15% of his match fee for a disciplinary breach during a match against Mumbai Indians. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed Flower’s violation of the IPL Code of Conduct, specifically Article 2.3 regarding the use of audible obscenities during a match.
The incident occurred during a controversial boundary decision in the 18th over of RCB’s run chase, which led to frustration in the team. Flower was involved in an agitated exchange with the fourth umpire, using inappropriate language that was picked up by on-field microphones. He admitted to the breach and accepted the sanction imposed by the match referee.
Despite the off-field incident, RCB managed to chase down the target off the final delivery, securing a 2-wicket victory over MI. This win propelled RCB to the top of the IPL 2026 table with 14 points, while MI’s defeat ended their playoff hopes. Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s four-wicket haul earned him the Player of the Match title and the Purple Cap.
