The RCB coach, Andy Flower, expressed his belief that Venkatesh Iyer would have performed better under their guidance, subtly blaming KKR for his poor performance of only 142 runs in the IPL. Flower mentioned that RCB had bid heavily for Iyer before Kolkata Knight Riders acquired him for INR 23.75 crore. However, RCB used the same amount to sign Josh Hazlewood and Phil Salt, along with Jitesh Sharma and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, ultimately leading to their victory in the IPL. Abhinav Mukund, a veteran India batter, considered RCB’s failure to acquire Iyer as a fortunate turn of events, as it allowed them to strategically invest in other key players. The decision to focus on strengthening their team with a diverse set of players proved to be beneficial in the end, as RCB secured their first IPL title in 18 years.
