An FIR has been filed against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), DNA Entertainment Private Limited, and the administrative committee of the Karnataka State Cricket Association in connection with the stampede outside the Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru on June 4, which resulted in 11 deaths. The Cubbon Park police registered the case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including culpable homicide not amounting to murder and voluntarily causing hurt. The stampede occurred during celebrations of RCB’s maiden IPL title, with an overwhelming crowd exceeding the stadium’s capacity. The Karnataka government announced a compensation of ₹10 lakh for the families of the deceased and free medical treatment for the injured. RCB expressed deep sorrow and pledged financial assistance to the families of the victims, creating a fund called RCB Cares to support injured fans. The incident has caused anguish and pain, prompting actions to provide support to those affected by the tragedy.
