Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals are in the process of finalizing a player swap deal involving Ravindra Jadeja, Sam Curran, and Sanju Samson. However, the deal is currently awaiting approval from the BCCI. Both teams have obtained consent from the players involved, but the formal process is still pending.
According to reports, the trade has entered the Expression of Interest (EOI) stage under IPL Player Regulations, triggering a 48-hour processing window. The franchises have not yet informed the IPL or BCCI hierarchy about the trade. Additionally, as Sam Curran is an overseas player, approval from the England and Wales Cricket Board may be required.
The financial implications of the swap are significant, with Jadeja and Samson being INR 18 crore retentions for CSK and RR, respectively. Curran was a 2.4 crore buy at the last auction. There is division within the IPL community over Jadeja’s potential departure from CSK, with Suresh Raina urging the franchise to retain him. The outcome of the trade depends on the speedy clearance of paperwork by the BCCI.
