Rajasthan Royals faced a setback before their match against Mumbai Indians as star bowler Sandeep Sharma was ruled out of the rest of the IPL 2025 season due to a finger fracture. Sandeep had sustained the injury in the previous game against Gujarat Titans but bravely completed his bowling spell. The Royals are yet to announce his replacement.

In the game against Mumbai Indians, Akash Madhwal replaced Sandeep Sharma while Wanindu Hasaranga was replaced by Kumar Kartikeya. Rajasthan chose to bowl first considering the dew factor, aiming to exploit the conditions. Stand-in captain Riyan Parag emphasized the team’s focus on simplicity and taking one game at a time. Mumbai, on a winning streak, made no changes to their playing XI and had the opportunity to move to the top of the table.

Despite the absence of Sandeep Sharma, Rajasthan aimed to continue their momentum after a recent win and give their players the freedom to play their natural game. The team management is actively working on finalizing Sandeep’s replacement, with an official announcement expected soon.
