Kolkata Knight Riders faced a setback on Thursday as they suffered their first two losses of the IPL season, marking a 14-year low since 2012. After a disappointing performance in the opener against Mumbai Indians, their batting failed to deliver in a heavy 65-run defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad. Blessing Muzarabani’s 4/41 was overshadowed by Heinrich Klaasen’s half-century, leading Sunrisers to a formidable total of 226/8. Despite a promising start from Finn Allen, KKR collapsed to 161 all out in just 16 overs. Captain Ajinkya Rahane acknowledged the lack of partnerships in the middle overs as a key factor in their defeat. Rahane also noted the change in pitch conditions in the second innings but refrained from making excuses. He emphasized the need for reassessing their batting unit and potentially including an extra batter in the lineup. KKR will aim to bounce back in their upcoming match against Punjab Kings on April 6.
