Aaron Finch came to the defense of Ajinkya Rahane, urging the Kolkata Knight Riders captain to ignore the criticism he is facing. Rahane has been under fire as KKR skipper in the IPL 2026 season, with the team losing their first two games and struggling to perform. Finch, a former teammate of Rahane, advised him to stay aggressive and continue to perform at the top of the order.

Rahane responded to critics questioning his strike rate after their defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad, claiming that he has the best strike rate since 2023 and accusing his critics of having a personal agenda against him. However, statistics show that Rahane is 88th on the strike rate list since IPL 2023, with a strike rate of 147.78.

KKR earned their first point of the season against Punjab Kings due to rain, which halted play after Finn Allen and Cameron Green’s early dismissals. The team is currently eighth in the standings and needs to improve their performance to get their campaign back on track.
