During the Qualifier 1 match between Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in New Chandigarh, Punjab Kings faced a major setback as they registered their sixth lowest total in Indian Premier League (IPL) history. The Punjab Kings’ batting lineup struggled against the bowling attack of Josh Hazlewood, Suyash Sharma, Yash Dayal, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Romario Shepherd. Hazlewood and Sharma picked three wickets each, while Dayal scalped two, leading to Punjab being bowled out for just 101 runs in 14.1 overs.
The situation worsened for Punjab Kings when they were six wickets down for 60 runs. The decision to bring in Musheer Khan as an impact player also did not work out as he was dismissed for a three-ball duck. This low total added Punjab Kings’ name to the list of their lowest totals in IPL history.
The full list of lowest totals by Punjab Kings includes:
1. 73/10 in 15.5 overs vs RPSG (Pune, 2017)
2. 88/10 in 13.4 overs vs RCB (Bengaluru, 2015)
3. 88/10 in 15.1 overs vs RCB (Indore, 2018)
4. 92/8 in 20 overs vs CSK (Durban, 2009)
5. 95/9 in 20 overs vs CSK (Chennai, 2015)
6. 101/10 in 14.1 overs vs RCB (New Chandigarh, 2025)
It was a disappointing performance for Punjab Kings, and they will need to regroup and come back stronger in their next matches to avoid such low totals in the future.
