Cheteshwar Pujara believes that young cricketer Vaibhav Sooryavanshi should focus on playing Test cricket to enhance his skills and temperament and earn respect from colleagues, experts, and fans. Sooryavanshi, who made his IPL debut in 2025, has become a key player for RR in IPL 2026 following Sanju Samson’s trade to CSK. He has scored 404 runs in 10 matches at an average of 40.40 with a strike rate of 237.64, including a century and two fifties, placing him fifth in the Orange Cap race.
Pujara, an expert on JioHotstar CTV Hindi feed, believes that Sooryavanshi’s India call-up is imminent and hopes he gets a chance to play Test cricket. Despite acknowledging Test cricket as the ultimate format, Pujara emphasizes the importance of having specialists for different formats. Sooryavanshi, known for his self-belief and backlift reminiscent of Brian Lara, aims to fulfill his dream of playing in the World Cup for the senior Indian team.
Although RR suffered a loss to Delhi Capitals, Sooryavanshi remains determined to bounce back in their next game against the Gujarat Titans. Currently in fourth place on the points table with six wins and four defeats, RR will rely on Sooryavanshi’s talent and confidence to continue their successful season.
