The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction is set to take place at the Abady Al Johar Arena in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with bidding wars expected. Rishabh Pant, who was released by Delhi Capitals, is a hot topic leading into the auction. There are rumors that Punjab Kings may go after Pant, given their auction purse.

Punjab Kings’ head coach, Ricky Ponting, has addressed the speculation surrounding Pant. Having previously worked with Pant at Delhi Capitals, Ponting acknowledged that Pant is likely to be a target for many teams in the auction. Despite Punjab Kings having the biggest purse going into the auction, Ponting noted that they have only retained two players, so their advantage may not be as significant as it seems.

Rishabh Pant has set his base price at INR 2 crore and is expected to be one of the costliest picks in the auction. Ponting emphasized the importance of sticking to their strategy while considering various players, including Pant. Punjab Kings retained only two uncapped players and have the highest auction purse at INR 110.5 crore. They need to fill their squad with a minimum of 16 players.

The mega auction, starting at 3:30 PM IST, will feature Pant in Marquee Set 1, alongside players like KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer. As teams gear up for intense bidding, the potential acquisition of Pant by Punjab Kings remains a focal point of discussion.
