Pat Cummins is set to rejoin Sunrisers Hyderabad for the resumption of the IPL on May 17, as reported by Sportstar. The exact date of his arrival is still unknown. The Australian fast bowler had returned home along with other overseas players when the tournament was paused on May 9 due to tensions between India and Pakistan.

Despite Sunrisers Hyderabad being out of playoff contention, Cummins has decided to return to see out the remainder of the campaign. This decision comes amidst uncertainties surrounding the participation of key Australian players with the World Test Championship final approaching. Cummins is set to lead Australia in the title clash against South Africa at Lord’s, starting on June 11.

Sunrisers Hyderabad, the runner-up in the IPL 2024, has had a disappointing season in 2025 and was one of the first teams to be eliminated from playoff contention. Their remaining matches are all away fixtures against Lucknow Super Giants on May 19, Royal Challengers Bengaluru on May 23, and Kolkata Knight Riders on May 25.

The IPL released a revised schedule on May 12, confirming 13 league matches and four playoff fixtures to complete the season. With Cummins’ return, Sunrisers Hyderabad will be looking to finish the season on a positive note despite their early exit from playoff contention.
