Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag has advised young opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to avoid press conferences to shield him from outside noise and pressure. Sooryavanshi shot to fame with a record-breaking century on debut in the last IPL and continued to impress in Under-19 cricket, playing a crucial role in India’s World Cup win.
Parag, taking over as captain from Sanju Samson, emphasized the need to protect Sooryavanshi from unnecessary attention and allow him to develop at his own pace. He urged the media to not reach out to him or his manager, but to let him enjoy the game and make the country proud.
Sooryavanshi’s outstanding performance in the U-19 World Cup final, scoring 175 off 80 balls, showcased his talent and temperament under pressure. Parag supported him, acknowledging the pressure he faces and backing Yashasvi Jaiswal to handle the bulk of it, while encouraging Sooryavanshi to play fearlessly and trust his natural game.
Parag praised Sooryavanshi for his exceptional run-scoring ability and urged him to continue playing with freedom and confidence.
