Lucknow Super Giants bowling coach Bharat Arun has confirmed that team captain Rishabh Pant is fully fit to play in their upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match against Punjab Kings in New Chandigarh. Pant had suffered an injury when he was hit on the elbow by a Josh Hazlewood delivery during a previous match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Despite returning to bat later in the game, Pant was dismissed for just 1 run off six balls.
This season, Pant has struggled to find form, scoring only 104 runs in five innings at a slow strike rate of 122.35. His only notable performance was an unbeaten 68 in a match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Last season, Pant also had a disappointing run, scoring 269 runs in 13 innings at a strike rate of 133.16.
In the previous IPL season, Lucknow Super Giants finished seventh on the standings with six wins out of 14 games. This season, they have had a slow start, losing three out of their first five matches. Despite Pant’s struggles, the team will be looking to turn their fortunes around with his leadership on the field.
The 28-year-old, who was the league’s most expensive signing at Rs. 27 crore, will be hoping to lead his team to victory in the upcoming match against Punjab Kings. The Super Giants will be counting on Pant’s experience and skill to help them secure a much-needed win in the IPL.
