Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant confidently challenged Sunrisers Hyderabad at the toss before the IPL 2025 game, despite the talk of SRH potentially chasing a 300-run total at home. LSG won the toss and chose to bowl first. Sunrisers had scored 286 runs in their previous game, falling just short of their own IPL record. Pant expressed his team’s readiness to chase any total to secure their first win of the season, following their narrow loss to Delhi Capitals in the opener.

Pant stated that Lucknow has the batting strength to chase down any target set by SRH. He confirmed the playing XI change of Avesh Khan for Shahbaz Ahmed and boldly declared that they are prepared to chase down any score, no matter how high. SRH remained unchanged in their lineup. Captain Pat Cummins remained positive, emphasizing the team’s focus on winning games together and performing well as a bowling unit.

Former cricketer Deep Dasgupta suggested that the pitch may not be conducive to a 300-run total, predicting a slower track with bounce and carry. He advised that batting first and setting a good total would be the way to go, with expectations of a 200-plus score rather than a 300-run total.
