Mumbai Indians’ skipper Hardik Pandya has been penalized with a fine of INR 24 lakh for a slow over-rate during the IPL 2025 match against Gujarat Titans on May 6. This was Mumbai’s second offense of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct regarding minimum over-rate violations. The rest of the playing XI, along with the Impact Player and concussion substitute, were also fined either INR 6 lakh or 25% of their match fees, whichever was lower.

The Titans emerged victorious in the rain-affected match by three wickets, moving to the top of the standings and ending Mumbai’s six-match winning streak. In a related development, Titans’ head coach Ashish Nehra was fined 25% of his match fees and received one demerit point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct. Nehra admitted to the Level 1 offense under Article 2.20, which refers to conduct contrary to the spirit of the game, and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction.
