Sri Lankan fast bowler Nuwan Thushara has reportedly filed a petition with the Colombo District Court requesting Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to issue a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to allow him to participate in the current season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The case is set to be heard on April 9.

Thushara has named SLC officials including president Shammi Silva, secretary Bandula Dissanayake, treasurer Sujeewa Godaliyadda, and CEO Ashley de Silva as defendants in his plea. The cricketer, who was retained by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for INR 1.60 crore, claims that he meets the required fitness standards and disputes SLC’s assertion that he is not fit to play in the IPL.

Thushara argues that not receiving the NOC would harm his chances in the IPL and other international leagues. He insists that his fitness levels are on par with his career standards. The outcome of the court case could have significant implications for his future in professional cricket.

The petition was filed by Thushara on Thursday, and the first hearing is scheduled for April 9. The cricketer’s plea highlights the ongoing dispute between him and SLC regarding his fitness status and eligibility to play in the IPL. Thushara’s career prospects hang in the balance as he awaits a decision from the Colombo District Court.
