Nitish Rana, a batter for Delhi Capitals, was fined 25% of his match fee for a heated altercation with the fourth umpire during an IPL match against Chennai Super Kings. The incident occurred when Tristan Stubbs was denied a request to change his wet gloves in the 19th over due to heavy perspiration in Chennai’s humidity. After being dismissed, Rana confronted the fourth umpire in frustration, resulting in a demerit point as well.

The IPL stated that Rana breached Level 1 of the Code of Conduct for Players by using an audible obscenity during the match. Rana acknowledged the offence and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction.

In a separate incident, Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was fined Rs. 12 lakh for a slow over-rate during the match against Delhi Capitals. This was CSK’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct, resulting in the fine.

CSK secured a 23-run victory over Delhi Capitals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Their next match is against Kolkata Knight Riders on Tuesday.
