West Indian cricketer Sunil Narine made history as he became the first overseas bowler to reach 200 wickets in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Narine achieved this milestone while playing for Kolkata Knight Riders against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on May 3.

Narine, who has been a stalwart for Kolkata Knight Riders since 2012, joined the elite club of bowlers who have taken 200 or more wickets in the IPL. He is only the third bowler to achieve this feat, following Yuzvendra Chahal with 228 wickets and Bhuvneshwar Kumar with 215 wickets.

In the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, the 37-year-old spinner bowled impressively, taking 2 wickets for 31 runs in his four overs. He played a crucial role in slowing down Sunrisers Hyderabad’s batting momentum by dismissing Ishan Kishan after Travis Head had given them a strong start in the initial overs.

Narine’s exceptional performance not only helped Kolkata Knight Riders secure a victory but also solidified his position as one of the all-time greats in the IPL. His accomplishment was further highlighted in a fact box listing the bowlers with the most wickets in IPL history, where Narine’s name now stands at 200 wickets.

This milestone moment for Sunil Narine was celebrated by cricket fans worldwide, acknowledging his skill and contribution to the IPL over the years. The record-breaking achievement adds another remarkable chapter to Narine’s illustrious career in the world of cricket.
