Mumbai Indians (MI) registered their first win in IPL 2025 with a convincing performance against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Debutant Ashwani Kumar starred with a remarkable four-wicket haul, while Ryan Rickelton’s unbeaten 62 guided MI to an eight-wicket victory. Ashwani, a 23-year-old from Punjab, made history by becoming the first Indian to take four wickets on an IPL debut, dismantling KKR’s batting lineup. This win propelled MI to sixth place in the points table, with KKR now at the bottom.

Despite a slow start from Rohit Sharma, Rickelton’s explosive innings and Suryakumar Yadav’s quickfire cameo helped MI chase down the target comfortably with 7.1 overs to spare. In the points table, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC) lead the pack with four points each. Lucknow Super Giants’ Nicholas Pooran holds the Orange Cap with 145 runs, while Chennai Super Kings’ Noor Ahmad leads the Purple Cap race with nine wickets. This victory marks a strong comeback for MI in the tournament.
