In the last three IPL seasons, three out of five games have been decided in the powerplay, with the scoring rate crossing 10 for the first time, currently at 10.47. Mumbai Indians have struggled in the powerplay, falling behind early in matches. Against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, they couldn’t keep up with the required run rate, even with a strong start. Their bowlers have also struggled, picking up only five wickets in the powerplay at an economy rate of 11.67. Captain Hardik Pandya and the management need to make quick fixes to revive their campaign. They could consider promoting Naman Dhir to strengthen their powerplay approach and maximize the impact of the Boult-Bumrah combination by using them together upfront. JioStar expert Faf du Plessis suggested that Mumbai Indians need to reassess their bowling strategy and make changes to their powerplay approach to improve their performance.
