Former Rajasthan Royals Director of Cricket Operations, Zubin Bharucha, has been appointed as the Director of Performance for the Mumbai Indians ahead of the 2027 Indian Premier League season. Bharucha, 56, brings a wealth of experience to the role, having been with the Royals since 2008.
During his time with the Jaipur-based franchise, Bharucha oversaw the development of young Indian talents such as Sanju Samson, Riyan Parag, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. His track record of nurturing talent and building successful teams made him a natural choice for the Mumbai Indians.
In his new role, Bharucha will work closely with the existing leadership group to enhance performance across all aspects of the team. He will collaborate with head coach Mahela Jayawardene and the coaching staff to ensure that the Mumbai Indians are primed for success in the upcoming season.
The appointment of Bharucha comes as the Mumbai Indians look to reclaim the IPL title, which they last won in 2020. With his expertise and strategic vision, Bharucha will play a crucial role in guiding the team towards achieving their ultimate goal.
